Installation of copers and tactile on the South East Crossrail Project within active rail environment

VS Rail was contracted to install a new platform within operational hours replacing man hole covers and drainage as part of the Crossrail Project, representing the single biggest addition to the local rail network since the North Kent line was built in 1849.

The management team drew on their extensive knowledge and experience working in operationally restricted areas installing the new platform at a rate of 24 meters a day. VS Rail set out the coper line using coordinates which leave sufficient space for inbound trains but at not too large an area to inconvenience passenger foot traffic.

Crossrail represents the single biggest addition to the local rail network since the North Kent line was built in 1849. From 2018, a train every five minutes during the peak will allow residents to travel right through the capital without having to change trains. The journey from Abbey Wood to Canary Wharf and Bond Street will be around 20 minutes quicker and passengers travelling to Heathrow will be able to cut around 40 minutes off their journey.
