Coping stone and tactile realignment

VS Rail was contracted to undertake coper stone realignment on Epsom Station to allow track alignments to be instigated as part of an area wide track renewals campaign. VS Rail was selected due to our Value Engineering approach to the project which involved utilising existing copers rather than supplying new. This solution not only reduced the overall cost to the project but also removed a lot of the logistical issues of materials delivery and working around the track renewals teams. The works involved realigning approximately 50m of copers on three platforms.

The management team drew on their extensive knowledge and experience of platform works and were able to put in place various mitigation measures ensuring that the works ran smoothly. Works were successfully completed over a single weekend and V.S. Rail was praised as to the quality of the works.

Challenges overcome on this project included; working around track renewals machines, unknown condition of existing infrastructure and logistics and access constraints.
